Context

L’Archipel du Vivant runs the Biorégions MOOC and needed two things: a registration form for its participants, and an interactive map locating them, relying exclusively on open-source, European tools.

What I did

  • Designed the registration form with Framaforms (free software, hosted in Europe).
  • Cleaned the records with the tidyverse.
  • Geolocated the participants from an R script (the Geoapify API).
  • Exported to a uMap map, filterable and explorable by cohort, locality, country…

Outcome

An interactive map of the participants, explorable by cohort and country, and a fully sovereign, open-source registration pipeline, with no dependency on any proprietary service.
