Mapping a MOOC’s participants
Registration form and interactive map of the participants in L’Archipel du Vivant’s Biorégions MOOC, 100% open source and European.
Context
L’Archipel du Vivant runs the Biorégions MOOC and needed two things: a registration form for its participants, and an interactive map locating them, relying exclusively on open-source, European tools.
What I did
- Designed the registration form with Framaforms (free software, hosted in Europe).
- Cleaned the records with the
tidyverse. - Geolocated the participants from an R script (the Geoapify API).
- Exported to a uMap map, filterable and explorable by cohort, locality, country…
Outcome
An interactive map of the participants, explorable by cohort and country, and a fully sovereign, open-source registration pipeline, with no dependency on any proprietary service.
